UMKC women win WAC championship in track
The UMKC women captured the Western Athletic Conference championship on Saturday in Orem, Utah.
It’s the third conference crown for the women’s outdoor program, and the first in the WAC.
The Kangaroos compiled 199 team points, easily outpointing second-place Grand Canyon with 156.5.
The UMKC men finished third.
UMKC’s Courtney Frerichs was named the outstanding track performer after winning the 3,000 steeplechase and 5,000 meters.
The Kangaroos’ Dahlia Dyson was named the outstanding field performer after winning the shot and discus.
UMKC’s Shameika McField was named the WAC coach of the year.
