UMKC downed at Cal State Bakersfield
UMKC ended its two-game road trip with a loss at California State Bakersfield on Saturday night.
The Kangaroos fell to the Roadrunners 81-58.
It was UMKC’s fifth straight loss. The Kangaroos’ last victory was over Cal State Bakersfield, 62-59, on Jan. 18 at Municipal Auditorium.
UMKC, 6-19 overall and 1-7 in the WAC, was led in scoring by Xavier Bishop, who finished with 17 points.
UMKC was outrebounded 41-23. The Kangaroos shot 34.6 percent from the field, compared to the the Roadrunners’ 56.4 percent.
UMKC outscored Cal State Bakersfield 38-37 in the second half, but the Roos never got the deficit to single digits after having fallen behind 44-20 by halftime.
Cal State Bakersfield, which improved to 10-13 and 3-5, got 21 points from Jarkel Joiner.
UMKC returns to action with a home game on Thursday night at Municipal Auditorium.
