UMKC takes fourth place in Gulf Coast Showcase

. The UMKC Kangaroos finished up their trip to Florida for the Gulf Coast Showcase on Wednesday, falling to the Penn Quakers 68-65 in the tournament’s third-place game.

Senior guard Broderick Robinson led all scorers with 18 points. Sophomore guard Isaiah Ross had a chance to send the game into overtime with a three-pointer with five seconds left, but the shot was errant.

Penn started the game on a 10-0 run, a lead they would not relenquish for the remainder of the contest. Overall, the Roos shot 38 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free-throw line.

The Roos sit at 2-5 on the season and return to action Sunday when they travel to take on Tennesse-Martin.
