Missouri basketball announces signing of forward Jakoby Kemp
Missouri on Monday officially announced the signing of 6-foot-9 forward Jakoby Kemp from Layton, Utah, indicating that he’s already enrolled in summer classes and working out with the team.
Kemp announced his commitment to the Tigers via Twitter on June 28.
“We’re thrilled to have Jakoby join the Mizzou Basketball family,” Mizzou coach Kim Anderson said in a statement from the athletic department. “His height and athleticism stood out to us on the recruiting trail, but his work ethic and resiliency may be his strongest attributes.”
Kemp averaged 12.6 points and 6.6 rebounds as a senior for Layton, which won a state title in 2015 and reached the Utah Class 5A semifinals last spring.
“He is obviously someone we came across later in the process, but you would not be able to tell by his positive attitude and willingness to embrace our program,” Anderson said. “He will fit in well with our guys, and we look forward to helping him grow as a student of the game and of this great university.”
The Tigers, who must forfeit a scholarship during one of the next two seasons, have one unfilled scholarship for the 2016-17 season.
