Missouri signee Sophie Cunningham selected for McDonald’s All-American Game

Columbia Rock Bridge senior guard Sophie Cunningham is among 24 girls basketball players nationwide who were selected for the 2015 McDonald’s All-American Game.

Cunningham, a 6-foot-1 guard who signed with Missouri in November, will play for the West team.

She is the younger sister of current Tigers guard Lindsey Cunningham and will become MU’s first McDonald’s All-American in women’s basketball.

Cunningham is rated as the 20th overall prospect in the 2015 HoopGurlz, which gave her a five-star rating.

She is averaging 22.1 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Bruins, 13-4, won have won three consecutive Missouri Class 5 state titles.

Cunningham is one of three future SEC players selected for the game. The otthers are Kentucky-bound point guard Taylor Murray from Baltimore and Tennessee-bound point guard Te’a Cooper from Atlanta.

Cunningham will be joined at Missouri by Rock Bridge teammate and McDonald’s All-American nominee Cierra Porter, the younger sister of current Tigers forward Bri Porter. She is ranked No. 79 in HoopGurlz’s rankings.
