Missouri pitcher Houck gets 10 strikeouts as Tigers beat Auburn 2-0

Missouri sophomore ace Tanner Houck struck out 10 in a four-hit shutout Friday against Auburn at Taylor Stadium in Columbia.

“My fastball was huge,” said Houck, who was throwing 94-97 mph in the early innings. “I showed really early that I could command it for strikes with the movement, so that was kind of my go to tonight.”

The Tigers, 19-14, scratched out unearned runs in the second and eighth innings for a 2-0 victory to even the weekend series, which concludes Sunday.

Houck only faced 31 batters, walking one and inducing 14 ground outs.

“Tanner is arguably the best picture in our conference, and you need to have performances like that to do well in our conference,” Mizzou coach Tim Jamieson said.
