▪ ABOUT MISSOURI (8-16, 1-10 SEC): The Tigers will try to snap a nine-game losing streak, the fifth-longest in program history. Freshman forward Kevin Puryear is averaging 16.0 points and 6.5 rebounds over the last two games. The game doubles as a benefit for pediatric cancer research in honor of Mizzou assistant coach Brad Loos’ 5-year-old daughter, Rhyan. The “Rally for Rhyan Game” also coincides with the annual Gold Rush, so fans are encouraged to wear gold apparel.
▪ ABOUT TENNESSEE (12-12, 5-6 SEC): Volunteers senior guard Kevin Punter was committed to Missouri briefly before Frank Haith left and Kim Anderson was hired. He played in junior college at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, but visited Tennessee and committed before his official visit to Missouri. Punter, who was converted to point guard for the first time this season, ranks second in the SEC in scoring at 22.4 points per game behind Mississippi’s Stefan Moody (23.3 ppg).
