▪ ABOUT MISSOURI (7-7, 1-0 SEC): The Tigers won at Auburn last season 70-68, but both teams have new coaches. Missouri’s Kim Anderson guided Central Missouri to the NCAA Division II title last season, while Bruce Pearl, back after a messy dismissal at Tennessee, led Southern Indiana to the 1995 D-II title. Sophomore Johnathan Williams III remains on a tear with at least 15 points and eight rebounds in eight straight games. He’s averaging 17.6 points and 9.1 rebounds during that span. Missouri is expected to be without freshman guard Montaque Gill-Caesar (back spasms) for a second straight game.
▪ ABOUT AUBURN (8-6, 0-1 SEC): Senior guard KT Harrell has scored at least 20 points in seven games, but he was limited to eight in the Tigers’ SEC opener Tuesday at Vanderbilt, a 64-52 loss. The setback snapped a five-game win streak, including victories against Xavier and Texas Southern, which beat Michigan State and Kansas State last month. Harrell is the SEC’s second-leading scorer at 17.2 points game, while junior Cinmeon Bowers leads the conference with 11.1 rebounds per game and senior K.C. Ross-Miller ranks first with 2.4 steals per game.
