▪ ABOUT MISSOURI (8-9, 1-3 SEC): At Georgia earlier this season, Tigers freshman forward Kevin Puryear took advantage of Yante Maten’s foul trouble and went off for 19 points, including a 9-of-10 effort at the free-throw line in one of his more aggressive performances. He didn’t get much help. Junior Wes Clark scored 13 on 5-of-15 shooting, and sophomore Namon Wright added nine points but went 0 of 4 from three-point range. Nobody else scored more than five as the Tigers shot 34.5 percent, including 23.1 percent in the second half, while the Bulldogs shot a season-high 54.7 percent.
▪ ABOUT GEORGIA (9-6, 2-3 SEC): The Bulldogs were destroyed Saturday by Texas A&M at home. Of course, the Aggies are probably the best team in the SEC, but it remains to be seen whether the lopsided 79-45 loss shakes Georgia’s confidence or enrages coach Mark Fox’s squad. The Dawgs hammered the Tigers 77-59 in Athens, Ga., on Jan. 6 by overpowering Missouri inside with Maten, who scored 15. Guards Charles Mann (14), Kenny Gaines (11) and J.J. Frazier (16) also reached double figures.
