Despite a split last week, Missouri climbed one spot to No. 23 in The Associated Press women’s basketball top 25, which was released Monday.

The Tigers, 15-3, snagged the program’s first win against a top-10 opponent on Thursday, beating then-No. 7 Mississippi State 66-54 at Mizzou Arena.

It was the highest-ranked team Missouri had beaten since a 64-61 win against then-No. 4 Baylor on Jan. 4, 2006.

The last time the Tigers had knocked off a top-10 foe was an 80-63 victory against then-No. 9 Tennessee on Feb. 3, 2013, at Mizzou Arena.

Coach Robin Pingeton’s squad stumbled 64-52 on Sunday at Arkansas, but voters obviously didn’t hold that against them as much as they valued beating the Bulldogs.

This week, Missouri plays at No. 13 Texas A&M, 13-5, on Thursday and hosts No. 22 Florida, on Sunday at Mizzou Arena. The game with the Gators tips off at 1 p.m. on the SEC Network.
