New Missouri football coach Barry Odom landed the first commitment since taking the reins Dec. 4 in South Oak Cliff defensive end Marvin Terry from Dallas.

Terry announced his commitment Saturday on Twitter accompanied by a picture of himself with Odom and safeties coach Ryan Walters.

Terry is a Rivals three-star recruit, who is ranked by the recruiting service as the No. 23 recruit in Texas and the No. 23 prospect at weakside defensive end.

Scout.com lists Terry — a 6-foot-2, 215-pound senior — as the No. 22 outside linebacker in the 2016 class. It’s unclear where the Tigers might use him at the next level.

Primarily used at 4-3 defensive end in high school, Terry demonstrates tremendous speed off the edge and the ability to make disruptive plays in the backfield.

Terry visited Miami (Fla.) in September, according to Rivals and other recruiting sites, and visited Oklahoma in October, according to ESPN.

He also had offers from Arkansas, California, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Oregon, TCU, Texas Tech, UCLA and Wisconsin among others.

ESPN lists him as a four-star recruit as an outside linebacker, while 247 Sports gives him a three-star grade with a four-star composite ranking at No. 317 overall in the 2016 class.
