Sophomore forward D’Angelo Allen makes most of opportunity
Missouri sophomore forward D’Angelo Allen was a healthy scratch Friday in the season opener against Wofford.
Tigers coach Kim Anderson said he wasn’t suspended and had been practicing well, but that it was hard to find minutes for 11 players.
Allen also remained on the bench during the first half Sunday against Maryland-Eastern Shore before checking in at the 16:32 mark in the second half of a 73-55 win.
He promptly drew a foul but missed both free throws, but things got considerably better.
“D’Angelo came in and I thought he did a great job — not only defensively, but also on the boards,” Anderson said. “He was active, and I thought he made some things happen.”
Allen finished with two points and four rebounds in 15 minutes.
“I was proud of him …,” Anderson said. “He hasn’t done anything wrong. It was just hard to get 11 guys in a game (against Wofford). Tonight, he got his opportunity, he took advantage of it and so now he’s earned more. But he’s an energy guy and, when he plays within himself, and he did tonight, then he can make some solid contributions.”
