MU notes: Evan Boehm matches record for consecutive starts
Missouri senior Evan Boehm tied the Missouri career record for consecutive starts during a 20-16 win against BYU on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium.
Boehm has started all 50 games of his Tigers career, including the last 38 at center.
“It’s special,” Boehm said. “It’s an honor and a blessing. There’s not a lot of people that are able to do what I’m able to do. I take each day as a blessing and as an honor to be out here and play the sport I love and be with the people I love and represent my family.”
Boehm, a Lee’s Summit West graduate, started all 12 games as a true freshman in 2012 at left guard. He switched positions and started 14 games at center as a sophomore and junior.
Boehm suffered a severe ankle sprain Sept. 5 in the season-opener against Southeast Missouri, but he gutted his way through and didn’t miss a game.
According to CBS Sports, Boehm is the No. 6 center prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft and projects as a late-round pick.
Beckner injured
Freshman defensive tackle Terry Beckner Jr. suffered a sprained right knee on BYU’s first play from scrimmage.
He limped off the field with help from Missouri’s trainers and a brace was placed on his knee on the sideline before he was carted to the locker room.
Beckner, who is one of the most highly touted prospects of the Gary Pinkel era, did not return. He has 27 tackles, including eight for a loss with three sacks, this season.
Pendleton sees playing time
Redshirt freshman Kevin Pendleton saw his most extensive and significant playing time against BYU.
“That was amazing, and it was a blessing to be back in KC and putting it on the line for my guys and coach Pinkel,” Pendleton said. “It was great.”
He subbed in during the first quarter after senior right guard Mitch Hall committed a holding penalty, which was declined after Ish Witter lost a fumble on the play and rotated through the remainder of the game.
Pendleton rotated in with Hall throughout the week in practice.
