Mizzou suspends two players before exhibition opener vs. Missouri Western
Sophomore forward D’Angelo Allen and sophomore guard Namon Wright were suspended from Missouri’s exhibition game Friday against Missouri Western at Mizzou Arena.
Both players were withheld “for a violation of athletic department and team policies,” according to a release from MU Athletics.
Allen and Wright will be available for the regular-season opener Nov. 13 against Wofford at Mizzou Arena, the release said.
Wright was suspended for two games last season — February games against Texas A&M and at South Carolina — along with Montaque Gill-Caesar for a violation of teams rules.
Gill-Caesar transferred from Missouri, eventually landing at San Diego State, during the summer.
Allen didn’t miss any games last season, but he was suspended for a week during the preseason after a mid-September off-campus fight.
Allen and Jakeenan Gant were charged with a peace disturbance stemming from the altercation.
Discipline became a theme for last season’s squad in coach Kim Anderson’s first season with the Tigers.
Forward Torren Jones was dismissed from the team in August and guards Wes Clark, Deuce Bello and Tramaine Isabell also served suspensions last season.
