Four players transferring from Mizzou softball

Missouri softball announced Wednesday that four players would transfer from the program.

“I can confirm that Sarah Moore, Carlie Rose, Kelli Schkade and Casey Stangel are no longer members of our program,” Tigers coach Ehren Earleywine said in a statement from MU athletics. “We wish Sarah, Carlie, Kelli and Casey the best and thank them and their families for being a part of our program.”

Stangel — a freshman from Couer d’Alene, Idaho, last season — was Missouri’s No. 2 pitcher last season. The southpaw went 15-10 with a 3.27 ERA in 37 appearances, including 25 starts.

She struck out 83 with 162 hits and 67 walks in 164 2/3 innings.

Stangel started three of the Tigers’ four games at the regional with ace Tori Finucane, the reigning SEC freshman of the year, sidelined with an injured throwing hand.

Schkade, a freshman infielder last season, appeared in 46 games, including 30 starts, and batted .227 with three home runs and 16 RBIs.

Rose, who was a redshirt sophomore catcher, appeared in 36 games, including 14 starts, and batted .216, going eight for 37 overall.

Finally, Moore, who was a sophomore outfielder, batted .091 with three hits in 33 at-bats in 34 appearances, including nine starts.

Missouri signed six players in November, including Paige Lowary, a left-handed pitcher from Grimes High School in Dallas Center, Iowa.

She is expected to replace Stangel as the Tigers’ pitching pair for Finucane.
