Dallas safety DeMarkus Acy commits to Missouri

Missouri received a commitment Monday from DeMarkus Acy, a three-star safety prospect from Wilmer-Hutchins High in Dallas.

“I have decided today to commit to the University of Missouri,” Acy said on Twitter after visiting MU last weekend.

Acy also had offers from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas State, Arizona State, Texas Tech and Kansas among others, according to Rivals.

He becomes the 16th known commitment in the 2016 recruiting class.

Acy is the second commitment at the safety position, joining Hinds Community College sophomore safety Greg Taylor, who committed to Missouri out of East St. Louis (Ill.) but wound up in junior college instead.

Acy also is the fourth commitment from Texas.

The Tigers didn’t sign any players from the Lone Star State in the 2015 class, but Acy joins running back Darius Anderson of George Ranch High in Richland, linebacker Trey Baldwin of Cypress Falls High in Houston and offensive lineman Mackenzie Nworah of Manvel High as Texas commits for 2016.
