Ohio State is no longer a unanimous No. 1 and Missouri almost wasn’t a ranked team anymore after both teams claimed ugly wins Saturday.

The Buckeyes held on to the top spot with 42 first-place votes in the Associated Press Top 25 after a one-touchdown win against Northern Illinois, but Mississippi received 11 first-place votes, Michigan State received seven and LSU received one.

The Tigers, who nipped Connecticut 9-6 at Memorial Stadium, dropped three spots to No. 25.

Mississippi rose 12 spots into a tie for third place with TCU behind Ohio State and Michigan State on the strength of its win at Alabama, which dropped 10 spots to No. 12 after a 43-37 loss.

Baylor rounds out the top five followed by Notre Dame, Georgia, LSU, UCLA and Florida State.

The SEC, which had 10 ranked team two weeks ago, now has six ranked teams, including No. 14 Texas A&M.

The Big 12 has four ranked teams, including No. 15 Oklahoma and No. 24 Oklahoma State. Kansas State is receiving votes in the poll and is effectively ranked 39th.

Missouri also dropped three spots to No. 23 in the Amway Coaches Poll with unbeaten Northwestern and Oklahoma State and one-loss Wisconsin moving ahead of the Tigers.

Ohio State remained first in the coaches’ poll followed by TCU, Michigan State, Baylor and Mississippi.

The SEC announced that Missouri’s conference opener Saturday at Kentucky will kick off at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on SEC Network from Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, Ky.
