Fans rained boos down as Maty Mauk overshot J’Mon Moore along the sideline late in the second quarter.

It wasn’t long after freshman Drew Lock led a seven-play, 29-yard march into field-goal range only to have senior Andrew Baggett smack the right upright with a 40-yard boot.

The Tigers’ offense was stuck in neutral with only 114 yards on 32 plays in the first half with Mauk going nine of 15 for 52 yards.

“It’s whatever, honestly,” Mauk said. “If that’s how they feel, that’s how they feel. I’m not going to worry about them. That’s why they’re up in the stands and I’m down on the field.”

Mauk’s teammates had his back.

“The fans are going to get upset, but I don’t feel like Maty deserves it …,” sophomore wide receiver J’Mon Moore said. “I’m pretty sure Maty just tuned it out and went on to the next drive.”

▪ Freshman defensive tackle Terry Beckner Jr., who was involved in a two-car accident Friday on the northeast corner of the University of Missouri campus, played for Missouri against Connecticut.

None of the three passengers who were riding in his vehicle played.

Redshirt freshman wide receiver Keyon Dilosa, who was treated and released at the scene, sat out with a bruised elbow.

Fellow redshirt freshman wide receiver DeSean Blair, who went to University Hospital, sat out with a head injury.

Redshirt freshman running back Trevon Walters, who remains sidelined until at least mid-October as he recovers from ACL surgery, also went to the hospital.

▪ Senior center Evan Boehm came up gimpy on early in the fourth quarter on sophomore Ish Witter’s 1-yard loss on fourth-and-goal at Connecticut 1-yard line.

Mauk said he believed Boehm rolled the same sprained right ankle he’s been dealing with since the season opener against Southeast Missouri, but thought he was fine.

Late in the game, redshirt freshman Walter Brady, who recorded two sacks and a quarterback hurry, went to the locker room to have his right index finger examined.

Pinkel told reporters after the game it was broken, but Brady, who had the injured finger taped to his middle finger, said denied it was broken.

“No, I’m fine,” Brady said.
