Mizzou’s Terry Beckner Jr., three teammates injured in car wreck on campus
Freshman defensive tackle Terry Beckner Jr. and three teammates were injured Friday when the car he was driving was involved in a two-vehicle accident at the northeast corner of the University of Missouri campus.
Two of the passengers in Beckner’s car, redshirt freshman wide receiver DeSean Blair and redshirt freshman running back Trevon Walters, were taken to University Hospital as a precaution.
Beckner and another passenger, redshirt freshman wide receiver Keyon Dilosa, were treated and released at the scene, according to MU spokesman Chad Moller.
A female driver in the second car was transported to the hospital, Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief Stephen Potter told the Columbia Daily Tribune.
None of the injuries were considered life-threatening, but it’s unclear how it will affect the players’ availability for the Connecticut game at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
“The status of Beckner, Blair and Dilosa is being assessed and likely not known until tomorrow,” the statement from Moller said.
Walters has been sidelined since tearing his ACL during the spring and isn’t expected back until late mid-October, coach Gary Pinkel said Monday.
Pinkel was photographed at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 3:54 p.m. at the intersection of College and University avenues, according to MU Police Department Maj. Brian Weimer.

— David Morrison (@DavidCMorrison) September 18, 2015Beckner was a four-star recruit from East St. Louis and one of the key signings in Missouri’s most recent recruiting class.
He has split reps with junior Josh Augusta this season, racking up four tackles, one tackle for a loss and a pass breakup in his first two college games.
Dilosa, the backup Z receiver who started in place of injured senior Wesley Leftwich against Southeast Missouri, has three receptions for 25 yards this season, while Blair, the backup X receiver, has a 21-yard catch.
Missouri already lost one player, junior defensive tackle Harold Brantley, for the season when he suffered a broken leg and ligament damage in his knee among other injuries in a Father’s Day car crash.

Three story lines
1. Nation’s best: Through two games, Missouri linebacker Kentrell Brothers leads the nation with 32 tackles. He’s recorded a career-high 16 tackles in wins against Southeast Missouri and Arkansas State and also has three tackles for a loss, two interceptions and a blocked punt.
2. At a loss: Missouri leads the nation in tackles for a loss through two games with 25. Sophomore defensive end Charles Harris is tied for second nationally with six tackles for a loss on the season. The Tigers’ defense has forced a negative play on 18 percent of the opponents’ 139 snaps this season. MU’s 15 tackles for a loss at Arkansas State were the most since 2002.
3. Not in a rush: Entering the season’s third game, Missouri still doesn’t have a player with 100 yards rushing. Sophomore tailback Ish Witter, who has 25 carries for 83 yards, and junior quarterback Maty Mauk, 16 carries for 83 yards, lead the Tigers’ struggling ground game.
