Missouri’s Bri Kulas, Lianna Doty receive postseason SEC basketball honors
Missouri senior guard Bri Kulas was selected to the All-SEC women’s basketball first team, while sophomore guard Lianna Doty was chosen as the conference’s scholar-athlete of the year.
Both announcements were made Tuesday on the eve of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament in suburban Atlanta.
Kulas, a Shawnee Mission North graduate who also played at Kansas State and Johnson County Community College, is the Tigers’ leading scorer and ranks second in the SEC at 18.6 points per game.
She topped 1,000 points for her career last week and needs only 21 points to reach 1,000 in her Missouri career.
Kulas, a second-team all-conference performer as a junior, also averages 6.6 rebounds and shoots 44 percent from the field and 41 percent from three-point range.
Meanwhile, Doty, who was a member of the SEC’s all-freshman team last season, ranks fourth in the conference at 5.8 assists per game. She also averages 5.0 points and 3.6 rebounds.
Doty is a mechanical engineering major and boasts a near-perfect grade-point average.
Missouri, 17-12, drew the No. 12 seed for the conference tourney and opens against No. 13 Mississippi State at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Duluth, Ga. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports SportSouth.
