Missouri women’s basketball team tops Ole Miss on Senior Night

On Senior Night, a pair of freshmen saved the day for the Missouri women’s basketball teams.

The Tigers had seen a nine-point second half lead dissolve into a two-point deficit with less than two minutes to play on Thursday night. However, Jordan Frericks made four of MU’s six free throws down the stretch as it beat Mississippi 75-72.

Missouri, 17-11 overall, 6-9 in the SEC, had a 57-48 advantage with a little more than 11 minutes to play in the game. But the Rebels rallied, and led 71-69 with 1:30 left.

Frericks then made two free throws to tie the game and after a missed three-pointer by Ole Miss, Lindsey Cunningham grabbed the rebound and then made two free throws to give Mizzou a 73-71 advantage.

After the Rebels, 10-19, 1-14, made one free throw, Frericks made two more free throws to make it 75-72.

Of course, the Tigers’ victory wasn’t all the kids’ doing. Senior Bri Kulas, who played at Shawnee Mission North High School, had a game-high 26 points.

Kulas and fellow senior Tania Jackson were honored before the game.
