Tigers forward Tony Criswell not suspended, Frank Haith says

During a 16-0 run late in the half, Missouri sophomore Ryan Rosburg blocked a shot by Justin McKie on the left wing. Junior Jabari Brown grabbed the rebound and led the fast break, which he finished with a no-look pass to senior Earnest Ross for a finger-roll layup.

Missouri opened the game on an 11-0 run and, coupled with the 16-0 spurt later in the half, led 38-22 at the break.

Brown dished to freshman Johnathan Williams III for a dunk with 2:58 remaining. It was Brown’s career-high sixth assist and the season-high 18th of the game for the Tigers.

Missouri hadn’t shot better than 42.6 percent from the field in five previous conference games, but the Tigers made 26 of 48 shots — 54.2 percent — against South Carolina. Missouri is 8-0 on the season when shooting better than 50 percent.

Senior forward Tony Criswell didn’t play in the first half Saturday, but Missouri coach Frank Haith insisted that Criswell wasn’t suspended again.

“It was just a coach’s decision,” Haith said. “I’m playing guys that I think they can give us a chance to win and are doing what we need them to do.”

Criswell did enter the game midway through the second half and scored one point in 6 minutes.

Criswell sat out the Tigers’ first two games of the season for failing to meet his academic obligations. He later sat out against Auburn for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Once again, MU juniors Jordan Clarkson and Jabari Brown reached double figures in scoring.

Clarkson, who finished with 22 points, and Brown, who scored 24, have gotten at least 10 points in all 19 games this season.

These are the longest streaks to start a season for the Tigers since Kareem Rush reached double digits in 21 straight games to open the 2000-01 season.

At halftime, Missouri football associate head coach Andy Hill, radio announcer Gary Link and team physician Mark Adams were recognized.

They are part of the 2014 class for the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, which will be enshrined Sunday in Springfield.
