Texas A&M women overtake Missouri

Texas A&M’s Courtney Walker scored a game-high 21 points as No. 17 Texas A&M won its ninth straight game and remained undefeated in Southeastern Conference play with a 62-57 win over Missouri on Thursday night.

After trailing for much of the first half and 33-31 at halftime, Texas A&M, 16-4 and 6-0 SEC, took the lead early in the second half and never relinquished it.

The Tigers, 13-6 and 2-4, hung around and managed to cut their deficit to 60-56 with 1:15 to play. Missouri then got the ball back after a missed three-pointer by Texas A&M, but the Tigers missed threes on their next two possessions.

Mizzou hit seven of 15 from beyond the arc in the first half against the nation’s second-ranked three-point defense. But the Aggies locked down the three-point line in the second half and limited Mizzou to zero-for-five shooting following the break.

Morgan Eye led Missouri with 19 points while Brianna Kulas added 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers, who have lost four of their last five. MU’s last four games have all been against ranked teams.
