Middle Tennessee State announces three-game football series with Missouri
Missouri has agreed to a three-game series with Middle Tennessee State that includes two games at Memorial Stadium and one in Murfreesboro, Tenn., the Raiders announced Wednesday.
The Tigers will host Middle Tennessee on Oct. 22 next season.
The two teams will meet against Sept. 17, 2022, at the Blue Raiders’ Floyd Stadium with the series concluding Sept. 9, 2023, back at Memorial Stadium. Those games represent the first non-conference games scheduled so far in those seasons.
With the addition of Middle Tennessee, Missouri only has one unfilled nonconference game on its 2016 schedule, which also includes the Sept. 3 season opener at West Virginia and a home game Sept. 10 against Eastern Michigan.
The Blue Raiders, who play in Conference USA, and Tigers have only met one other time on the gridiron, a 41-40 overtime win by MU in Columbia in 2003.
Missouri’s 2017 nonconference slate is full with home games against Missouri State, Purdue and Idaho and a road game at Connecticut.
The Tigers still have an open date in 2018 with home games scheduled against Wyoming and Memphis and a road game at Purdue.
MU also has an unfilled nonconference date in 2019. The Tigers host Missouri State and West Virginia and play at Wyoming.
Finally, Missouri hosts Eastern Michigan and plays at BYU in 2020 with two non-conference opponents yet to be determined, while a game at Memphis in 2021 is the only nonconference game on the docket at this point.
