A 20-year-old Mississippi man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured Missouri star running back Ahmad Hardy and others.

Rashodrick Harris of Waynesboro, Mississippi, was taken into custody in Paducah, Kentucky, on Thursday, Laurel, Mississippi, police spokesperson Sgt. Macon Davis told The Star.

Harris is currently held in Kentucky and charged as a fugitive with a marijuana possession charge, according to jail records. Davis hopes to have him extradited to Mississippi in the next six days.

Hardy was shot as he was leaving a rap concert at Kamakazy Biker Club in Laurel on Sunday at around 2 a.m. Initial investigation details indicate Hardy was a passenger in a car looking to leave the scene when he was shot in the upper leg. He was one of at least two victims in the shooting.

Laurel police received a tip of Harris on video at a convenience store in the city. Harris was identified by the victims, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The investigation is ongoing.

Hardy, who was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi, and grew up in Oma, is a key starter for the Tigers football team. He is the reigning SEC Newcomer of the Year and a consensus All-American. He came to Mizzou from Louisiana-Monroe, where he was the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year.

Earlier this week, Missouri football head coach Eli Drinkwitz said Hardy is back in Columbia recovering, but Drinkwitz doesn’t know when Hardy will return to play with the team.

“There is an opportunity that he could be back this year. There’s an opportunity he couldn’t be back this year. So, we won’t know those answers for a few weeks,” Drinkwitz said. “But he’s got the full support of MU Health Care, and he’s got the full support of our team as we continue to help him recover and work it day by day.”
