She’s Mizzou’s most famous women’s basketball product. And Sophie Cunningham’s star only continues to rise.

The prolific shooter from Columbia, Missouri became one of the WNBA’s most familiar faces last season as one of superstar Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever teammates. Cunningham’s own brand has exploded in recent years, as she’s appeared in TV commercials and started her own podcast (“Show Me Something” boasts nearly 50,000 YouTube subscribers).

She’s also dabbled in sports commentary, providing analysis on Phoenix Suns NBA broadcasts — she played for the Phoenix Mercury earlier in her pro career.

Cunningham tore the MCL in one of her knees last August. But she recently announced on Instagram that she will be part of USA Network’s WNBA studio coverage while she’s out of action. The WNBA’s new season begins May 8 and she will also contribute to USA Sports’ digital and social platforms.

USA Network will televise 50 regular-season games, as well as the WNBA playoffs and finals, as part of the league’s new media package. The network will also air weekly Wednesday doubleheaders throughout the season.

Cunningham, 29, is an unrestricted free agent to start the year; the league’s negotiating period opened Wednesday. She averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 30 games for the Fever before last summer’s injury.

Entering her eighth year in the WNBA, she’s coming off her best season as a shooter: 46.9% from the floor and 43.2% from deep in her lone season with Indiana.
