Mizzou Athletics announces partnership for student-athlete financial education
On Wednesday, Mizzou Athletics announced a partnership with Edward Jones, focusing on financial education resources for its student-athletes.
A news release from Mizzou Athletics called the partnership “an innovative financial education and empowerment program delivered through the guidance of Edward Jones.”
The program offers financial education programming with workshops, one-on-one financial coaching and a customized mobile app for Mizzou student-athletes. Programming workshops include topics on healthy financial habits, budgeting, how to talk about money, tax basics and investing basics.
Mizzou hopes to support student-athletes in building confidence and knowledge of their short and long-term financial goals, the release said.
“We are proud to give our student-athletes the financial tools they need in today’s revenue sharing and Name, Image and Likeness era,” University of Missouri athletic director Laird Veatch said in the release. “Financial literacy is a life skill that has benefits well beyond their time at Mizzou, and this is another example of our commitment to providing best-in-class resources to our student-athletes both on and off the field.”
Edward Jones chief financial officer Andrew Miedler is a Mizzou alum, holding both his bachelor’s and master’s from Mizzou.
“This program reflects our deep belief that financial education can change lives,” Miedler said. “By empowering Mizzou student-athletes with the tools to make confident financial decisions, we’re helping them build stronger futures. It’s part of our broader commitment to positively impact communities — one learner, one goal, one future at a time.”
