Mizzou Athletics reports record year of donations, led by stadium project

Three substantial gifts supporting a historic $250 million renovation of Memorial Stadium’s north end helped spur Mizzou Athletics to a record haul in donations for the fiscal year 2025, according to a release from the university.

The department raised over $140 million in total, which included a school-record Olympic sports donation from longtime donor Audrey J. Walton intended to transform her namesake soccer stadium, which hosts Mizzou’s women’s soccer team.

A separate release from the athletics department said that donations toward the Memorial Stadium Centennial Project are closing in on $100 million of the project’s desired $125 million mark. This includes a large sum courtesy of the Farmer Families from Jefferson City, who will name the Rock M Club, a space described as an “innovative field-level experience,” according to the release.

“The philanthropy and support of our generous donors ensure that our championship culture continues its historic rise,” Curator Bob Blitz said in the report. “The expectation for an unrivaled game-day experience will now be matched by a first-class stadium that reflects our Tiger fans’ exceptional pride.”

The report added that two additional anonymous donors committed sums of $50 million and $25 million to help fund the renovation, which will add premium seating alongside the Rock M Club to the north end of the stadium. It is expected to be finished by the start of the 2026 season.

Mizzou also set a philanthropic record at the university level. It brought in a total of $269 million over the same period, the third time in four years it did so, according to the release.

“Philanthropy continues to sustain Mizzou’s mission in academics, research, engagement and athletics,” MU President Mun Choi said in the release. “Thank you to those on campus, including Vice Chancellor for Advancement Chris Smith and Director of Athletics Laird Veatch and their teams, for helping secure the many contributions that led to this remarkable fundraising year.”
