Here are the must-see games on the Missouri Tigers football schedule in 2025
As kickoff approaches at Faurot Field, the Mizzou Tigers have something to prove.
The SEC preseason media poll projected Mizzou to finish 12th in the SEC— a drastic drop from last season’s fourth-place finish.
Mizzou will avoid some heavy hitters, like Texas and Georgia, but it’s the SEC after all. It doesn’t get too much easier from there, with the Tigers chasing their third straight 10-win season.
Here are five must-see games from Mizzou’s 2025 slate...
1. Kansas (home, Sept. 6)
It’s been a long time coming.
No surprises, but the Border War is without a doubt one of the biggest games Mizzou will play this season — and one of the bigger rivalry matchups across college football. It’s been 14 years since these two programs, fueled by historic bad blood, have squared off on the gridiron with Mizzou’s departure to the SEC in 2012.
The Jayhawks will head to Faurot Field for Mizzou’s Week 2 matchup. All eyes will be on Columbia.
2. South Carolina (home, Sept. 20)
Head coach Eli Drinkwitz and Co. will face a tough opponent in their SEC opener. In last year’s contest, LaNorris Sellers led the Gamecocks to a last-minute victory with a 15-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds left. Sellers is a preseason All-SEC first-teamer this year, and he’ll look to repeat last year’s result while the Tigers attempt to avenge it.
3. Alabama (home, Oct. 11)
The Crimson Tide come to town to close out the six-game homestand that opens the Tigers’ season. Last time MU faced the Tide? It was a 34-point blowout in Tuscaloosa, the Tigers’ only shutout loss last season. Will Kalen DeBoer’s squad do it again, or can the Tigers, coming off a bye week, silence the Tide in front of the home crowd?
4. Auburn (road, Oct. 18)
Missouri will hit the road for the first time to see Hugh Freeze’s Tigers. Last season’s contest at Faurot featured arguably one of the best comebacks of the college football season, with QB Brady Cook literally returning from the hospital to spark Mizzou’s victory. Of course, neither of these teams are the same, but it should be a competitive contest.
5. Oklahoma (road, Nov. 22)
Let’s look at the numbers: Mizzou has a 25-67 all-time record against the Sooners, and MU is 8-33 when the game is in Norman. The Tigers haven’t won in Norman since 1966; no one had walked on the moon the last time the Tigers escaped Norman with a victory. I’m curious to see if this is the year they finally do it.
