Missouri Tigers announce 2025 Hall of Fame class. A KC native leads the way

Former Missouri men’s basketball star Kareem Rush was selected to the 2025 Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame Class, the athletic department announced Thursday.

The Pembroke Hill product is the program’s leader in career 3-point percentage with a 43.9% clip. Over the course of three seasons with MU from 1999-2002, the lefty averaged 18.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists.

During Rush’s tenure in Columbia, the team held a 62-38 record and made three NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight in 2002.

The Kansas City native was drafted No. 20 overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2002 NBA Draft but his draft rights were immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Rush spent seven seasons in the NBA, playing for the Lakers (2002-04), Charlotte Bobcats (2004-06), Indiana Pacers (2007-08), Philadelphia 76ers (2008-09) and Los Angeles Clippers (2009-10).

Following his run in the association, he spent time in the NBA D-League, now known as the G League, and was part of Ice Cube’s BIG3 Basketball league.

Rush joins Mike Alden (AD, 1998-2015), Sophie Cunningham (women’s basketball, 2015-19), Brock Olivo (football, 1994-97), Alyssa Munlyn (volleyball, 2015-19) and Bob Brendel (administration, 1980-2000 and 2021-present) in the class of 2025.

The 2025 class will be officially enshrined during a Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday, September 12, 2025, and members will be honored on field the following day as Mizzou faces Louisiana at Faurot Field, a Mizzou Athletics release said.

“This group represents the very best of Mizzou Athletics,” said athletic director Laird Veatch in the news release. “In their own ways, each honoree contributed significantly to the success and tradition that define our department and our university. We are thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments and welcome them into the Hall of Fame.”
