Missouri Tigers are moving 2025 football season-opener. Here’s why (& when)
Mizzou football’s first game of the 2025 season is now even closer.
Mizzou Athletics announced Thursday that the Tigers will open their season on August 28 in a Thursday night game at Faurot Field. The Tigers will welcome Central Arkansas to Columbia with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
The game was originally slated for that Saturday, August 30.
“We’re excited to keep this new tradition going with Mizzou football opening its season on a Thursday night in CoMo leading into the Labor Day weekend,” head coach Eli Drinkwitz said in a release. “We want to thank Central Arkansas and the SEC for agreeing to the change. We’re looking forward to seeing a packed Memorial Stadium and continuing our sellout steak into the 2025 season.”
This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
The Tigers will enter this matchup holding a 10-game home win streak, as well as a 12-game home sellout streak.
The season opener will also kick off a string of six consecutive home games to open the 2025 season, with the Tigers not hitting the road until October 18 against Auburn.
