Mizzou’s Brady Cook, Luther Burden & Theo Wease go through drills Saturday at NFL Combine
Former Missouri quarterback Brady Cook and wide receivers Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr. participated in various skills events at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Before the workouts began, all of the participating QBs, receivers and running backs received measurements from combine officials. Burden measured in at 6-foot and 206 pounds, Cook at 6-2 and 214 pounds and Wease at 6-3 and 200 pounds.
Burden, a projected first-round pick by many in April’s NFL Draft, ran an official 4.41-second 40-yard dash, tied for the 14th-fastest time among all participating receivers, with a 10-yard split of 1.54 seconds. Burden also turned heads in the receiver gantlet, completing the drill with no drops and running close to 20 mph from one sideline to the other.
Wease did not participate in receiver drills because of a hand injury he suffered in Mizzou’s 27-24 Music City Bowl win over Iowa, but he did compete in the athletic drills. Wease ran an official 4.56-second 40-yard dash with a 1.56-second 10-yard split. He also tested out with a 31-inch vertical leap and a 9-foot-9 broad jump.
During his media availability Friday, Wease told reporters that he plans to run routes and do receiver drills during Mizzou’s pro day March 21.
Cook was the only one of the three Tigers to compete in all of the drills, a decision that paid off. He recorded a 37-inch vertical and a 10-8 broad jump, one inch away from tying Anthony Richardson’s QB record. Cook clocked a 4.59 in the 40 with a 10-yard split of 1.53.
Cook completed the three-cone drill in 7.01 and the 20-yard shuttle in 4.17 to wrap up his impressive performance. He finished the day as the top quarterback in every category and earned a relative athletic score of 9.71 out of 10, which ranks 30th out of 993 eligible QBs since 1987. Blaine Gabbert, who scored an RAS of 9.92 in 2011, is the only ex-Mizzou signal-caller to receive a higher score. Cook also performed well in the throwing drills.
Offensive lineman Armand Membou, the final former Tigers to compete at the combine, will partake in drills Sunday afternoon. Membou will participated in all of the drills and told reporters during his media availability he has yet to decide whether or not he will participate in the vertical and broad jump.
