The Missouri Tigers’ latest transfer portal pickup? He’s a tight end from Colorado State

The Missouri football team added experience to its offense with the signing of former Colorado State tight end Vince Brown II on Saturday.

Brown spent the past two seasons with the Rams. Appearing in 13 games with 12 starts this regular season, the senior had 24 receptions for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Brown, who hails from from Matteson, Illinois, had three catches for 41 yards in Colorado State’s appearance in the Arizona Bowl.

Before his time with the Rams, Brown began his collegiate career at the JUCO level with the College of DuPage, where he helped the team win two NJCAA championships in 2021 and 2022.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound tight end currently has one year of eligibility remaining after the NCAA’s ruling that former JUCO players can be granted an additional year of eligibility.

Brown will join a tight end room at Missouri that retains most of its talent in sophomore starter Brett Norfleet, sophomore Jordon Harris, freshman Jude James, junior Tucker Miller and freshman Whit Hafer. The Tigers will also welcome three-star Class of 2025 recruit Dakotah Terrell. Graduate Tyler Stephens is out of eligibility.

Brown marks the Tigers’ first tight end addition out of the transfer portal. He’s Missouri’s seventh portal addition on offense and 16th portal grab overall. The Tigers’ transfer portal class is ranked No. 2 in the country, behind only Texas Tech, according to On3.

Punter Luke Bauer announces transfer portal entry

Punter Luke Bauer has switched up and decided to enter the transfer portal, PowerMizzou reported Thursday.

This season as Missouri’s lone punter to see the field, Bauer recorded 2,047 punting yards, averaging 41.8 yards per attempt in 49 attempts. He ended his time with Missouri in the Music City Bowl, where Bauer recorded his longest punt of the season for 62 yards.

Bauer also amassed 927 yards in 22 attempts during the 2023 season, averaging 42.1 yards per attempt.

Bauer, a graduate who started at MU during the COVID season of 2020, initially was expected to end his college career despite having a year of eligibility remaining. He now will attempt to use his final season of eligibility elsewhere.

The Tigers are entering a season with a sparse special teams room. Freshman punter Will Safris committed to Utah State through the transfer portal, and sophomore punter Orion Phillips committed to Utah through the portal.

Missouri’s portal addition of former Stanford punter Connor Weselman makes him the only eligible punter for next season so far. Weselman did not attempt a punt this season but racked up 914 yards in 21 attempts in 2023, averaging 43.5 yards per punt.
