Mizzou football kicker Blake Craig named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week
The best game of redshirt freshman Blake Craig’s Mizzou career was recognized by the Southeastern Conference on Monday morning as he was named the league’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
Craig went 4-for-4 on field goals in MU’s 27-21 win over Boston College on Saturday, converting from 31, 38, 38 and 56 yards. His 56-yarder to end the first half was a career long and the longest for a Mizzou kicker since Harrison Mevis’ 61-yard game-winner against Kansas State last season. Craig also made his only extra point attempt.
Craig made just 1-of-3 field-goal attempts in Week 2 against Buffalo but shined against the Eagles, scoring 13 of the Tigers’ 27 points.
The Kansas City (Liberty North) product is tied for first nationally in made field goals per game (2.67), tied for fifth in total points scored (36) and tied for sixth in scoring per game (12.0).
Hill tickets for Vanderbilt game sell out in minutes
Missouri announced Monday that hill tickets for the SEC opener against Vanderbilt were on sale. Availability was short-lived, however, as fans reported that the tickets were gone minutes later.
The Tigers’ home game against the Commodores on Saturday afternoon will be MU’s ninth consecutive sellout. The games against Auburn (Oct. 19) and Oklahoma (Nov. 9) are also sold out, meaning the only game with tickets still available is the regular-season finale against Arkansas on Nov. 30.
Mizzou QB commit Matt Zollers suffers season-ending injury
Five-star quarterback and Mizzou commit Matt Zollers suffered a broken left ankle in Friday night’s game against Downington West and will miss the remainder of the season for Spring-Ford (Pennsylvania) High School, according to The Mercury.
Zollers was brought to the ground while attempting to escape the pocket in the fourth quarter, resulting in the gruesome-looking ankle injury. He left the field in an ambulance.
On3 has Zollers ranked as the third-best quarterback, behind LSU commit Bryce Underwood and Ohio State commit Tavien St. Clair, and the 18th-best player overall in the class of 2025.
