Missouri Tigers wide receiver Wease was booked by MU police for failure to appear
Starting Missouri Tigers wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. was arrested Tuesday in Boone County, according to a report released by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
The second-year Tiger was booked by MUPD for failure to appear in court at 12:57 p.m. Tuesday, stemming from a ticket for failure to properly wear a seatbelt in February.
Wease did not appear in court in March, which led to his arrest warrant being ordered in May. He was released on bond, which was set at $10. The fifth-year senior and Tigers team captain has no previous criminal record.
Wease was named as a witness to armed robbery while a student at the university of Oklahoma in 2021. Former teammates Mikey Henderson, Trejan Bridges and Seth McGown were each arrested in the incident, but Wease and teammates Drake Stoops and Jadon Haselwood, both also named as witnesses, were not charged.
Wease transferred to Missouri before the 2023 season. He started all 13 games in his maiden campaign with the Tigers, recording 49 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns. He was second on the team in all three categories.
Wease, who was scheduled to speak to the media Tuesday afternoon, did not appear because of what a team spokesperson categorized as a “scheduling conflict.”
The team has not yet made a statement about Wease’s arrest.
