Mizzou basketball lands top-50 transfer Jacob Crews in 1st big move of offseason
The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball program has kickstarted what promises to be a busy offseason, landing a top-25 shooter in UT Martin transfer Jacob Crews.
Crews, the No. 22-ranked shooter in Division I for the 2023-24 season with a scoring average of 19.1 points per game, officially signed with Mizzou on Wednesday.
A 6-foot-8 wing from Hilliard, Florida, Crews was a consensus top-50 target in this year’s NCAA transfer portal.
He will be a senior for the Tigers this fall.
“Jacob has great size for his position with an elite combination of shooting, toughness and rebounding,” MU coach Dennis Gates said in a Mizzou Athletics news release. “He has an outstanding mindset and is somebody who is looking forward to the challenge of playing in the nation’s top conference.
“He attracted a lot of interest from several power-conference schools but we were able to form a great connection with him and his family and know that he will be a perfect fit and teammate within our program.”
Crews shot 48.5% from the field and 41.4% from 3-point range this past season for UT Martin. The latter mark ranked No. 22 nationally.
He ranked 38th in 3-pointers made per game (2.78) and second in the Ohio Valley Conference in 3-point percentage. He can also pull down rebounds, averaging 8.2 per game.
Crews received first-team All-Ohio Valley recognition this year, his only season at UT Martin. He spent his first two seasons of college basketball at North Florida, then one season at Daytona State, a junior-college.
Now he joins a Mizzou program that is looking to rebuild after going winless in the Southeastern Conference in 2023-24.
