Missouri basketball players Jakeenan Gant, D’Angelo Allen charged with peace disturbance

Missouri freshman men’s basketball players Jakeenan Gant and D’Angelo Allen were charged Tuesday with a peace disturbance, according to the Boone County prosecutors’ office.

Gant, 18, a forward from Georgia, and Allen, 18, a wing from Dallas, were arrested in the early-morning hours Sept. 14 on suspicion of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

Peace disturbance is a Class B misdemeanor.

Boone County prosecutors believed the facts of the case best fit that charge, which includes “fighting” as an act that fits under the peace disturbance charge.

Allen, Gant and another man were arrested but not taken to jail after an alleged altercation near Eighth and Elm Streets around 2 a.m. on Sept. 14.

Both were players were initially suspended by first-year Missouri coach Kim Anderson, but subsequently were reinstated prior to Tuesday’s Black and Gold scrimmage at Mizzou Arena.
