DeAndre Gholston’s banked three-pointer from about 35 feet beat the buzzer and gave Missouri a 68-66 victory over Central Florida in Sunrise, Fla.

Central Florida missed a three-point attempt with eight seconds remaining. D’Moi Hodge grabbed the rebound and hustled up the floor. He lost his footing after crossing midcourt and fell but batted a pass to Gholston, who squared up from well beyond the top of the key and banked in the triple as the game ended.

The Tigers led by as many as 14 early in the second half before the Knights started chipping away. Mizzou took a 65-60 lead with 2 1/2 minutes remaining on Ronnie DeGray’s two free throws.

Central Florida scored the next six, and when Gholston was called for an offense foul with 34 seconds remaining, the Knights had the ball and the lead.

But Hodge controlled the rebound on the final three-point attempt to set up the final shot.

Gholston scored all 16 of his points in the second half. Nick Honor finished with 17 points, including making his first five three-point attempts in the game’s first 10 minutes to answer Central Florida’s 10-0 start to the game.

Missouri, coming off its first loss of the season vs. Kansas, improved to 10-1 and will take on Illinois in St. Louis on Thursday.
