After suffering its worst home loss in a decade to Penn State last week (41-12), Auburn had a bit of a quarterback mystery. Two QBs, T.J. Finley and Robby Ashford, had been sharing snaps and a third candidate, Zach Calzada figured to be part of the mix as the team prepped for Mizzou.

But Auburn may be down to just one of those quarterbacks. Finley suffered a shoulder injury last week and Al.com reported he’s expected to miss today’s game. Also, Calzada, who hasn’t played this season, is expected to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.

Finley has started the three games and has played 133 snaps and Ashford has taken 73. Auburn has averaged 26 points per game, with earlier victories coming against Mercer and San Jose State.

Auburn certainty has a formidable running back. Tank Bigsby, a preseason All-SEC selection, averages 6.2 yards per carry. Another Auburn strength: the pass-rush tandem of Derick Hall and Eku Leota.

Auburn coach Bryan Harsin is on the hot seat and cannot afford a loss in which his Auburn team is a touchdown favorite. But if Missouri can clean up some issues with penalties, fine-tune its offense and continue to get solid play from its defense, the Tigers in black and gold could steal one on the road here.

Prediction: Missouri 24-20

Last game prediction: Missouri 45-14 (Mizzou beat Abliene Christian 34-17)

2022 record on picks: 3-0

2022 record against the spread: 1-1
