Missouri Tigers forward Kobe Brown was named a second team All-SEC selection by the league’s men’s basketball coaches on Tuesday.

Brown was one of 17 players in the conference to make either first or second All-SEC teams. He averaged 12.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game this season, leading Mizzou (11-20, 5-13) in scoring and rebounding.

Though he scored 15 points or more in five conference games — including a 30-point performance in an upset win over then-No. 15 Alabama in January, Brown struggled at times throughout the league schedule. He was held under 10 points in 10 conference games, all of which Mizzou lost.

Auburn’s Bruce Pearl was named SEC coach of the year, Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky) won player of the year and Jabari Smith Jr. (Auburn) was chosen freshman of the year.

Those same three also won the Associated Press all-SEC awards, voted on by a panel of media who cover the league. The AP all-SEC first and second teams consisted of 10 players and Brown was not selected.

Mizzou enters the SEC Tournament in Tampa as the 12th-seeded team. The Tigers will face No. 13 seed Misssissippi at 5 p.m. Central time Wednesday, with the game set to air on the SEC Network. If Mizzou wins, they would face No. 5 seed LSU at 1 p.m. Thursday with the winner moving on to Friday’s quarterfinals against No. 4 seed Arkansas.
