Missouri football received a commitment from former Buffalo tight end Tyler Stephens on Saturday night.

The Tigers have now added eight Division-I players through the transfer portal this offseason. Stephens is the second to join Mizzou from Buffalo; offensive lineman Bence Polgar hopped on board in late December.

Stephens, who is listed at 6-foot-6, 229 pounds, appeared in 11 games as a reserve right end for the Bulls last season. He recorded 15 catches for 157 yards and a touchdown.

A native of Braceville, Ohio, Stephens was a three-star recruit in the 2019 class. He redshirted his first season at Buffalo and appeared in four games in 2020.

Stephens is the only tight end Mizzou has added through the transfer portal so far. The position lost multiple key pieces in Daniel Parker Jr., and Messiah Swinson, who both transferred elsewhere, along with Niko Hea, who medically retired. Lee’s Summit product Max Whisner will also add depth to the position as an incoming freshman.
