The Missouri Tigers football team officially announced the hiring of assistant coach Jacob Peeler on Tuesday.

Peeler, who served as Texas State’s offensive coordinator from 2020-21, joins Eliah Drinkwitz’s staff as a wide receivers coach. Bush Hamdan, who was previously listed as wide receivers and quarterbacks coach, will now exclusively work with Mizzou’s quarterbacks.

“Coach Peeler has a proven ability to recruit and develop student-athletes,” Drinkwitz said. “Adding Jacob and his coaching experience is an opportunity to strengthen our staff, and utilize our coaching staff better moving forward.”

Before his time at Texas State, Peeler was at Ole Miss from 2017-19 as wide receivers coach. He was promoted to co-offensive coordinator in his final season there, according to a release from Mizzou. While with the Rebels, he helped develop 2019 NFL Draft picks A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf.

Peeler has also served on the coaching staffs at California and Louisiana Tech.

Drinkwitz has one opening on his coaching staff remaining for the 2022 season.
