Aaron Fletcher resigns in another change for Mizzou Tigers football coaching staff
The offseason turnover on Missouri football’s coaching staff took another turn on Thursday.
Secondary coach Aaron Fletcher has resigned from the program, a team spokesperson confirmed to The Star. Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel was the first to report Fletcher’s departure to become the defensive backs coach at Arizona State.
Mizzou head coach Eliah Drinkwitz has lost two defensive backs coaches in a little over a week. Charlie Harbison stepped down from his position as safeties coach on Jan. 5 so that he could have “more flexibility in handling personal family matters in North Carolina,” though he will remain on staff. Fletcher had a specific focus on coaching the Tigers’ cornerbacks last season, which was his first with the program after six years at Tulsa.
Casey Woods, who served as recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach, left Missouri in December to become offensive coordinator at SMU. Earlier this week, Drinkwitz announced that his responsibilities will now be added onto the plates of Erik Link and D.J. Smith, who were already position coaches.
Drinkwitz also added Kevin Peoples from Indiana as assistant coach for the edge defensive line last week. Al Davis was moved to inside defensive line coach.
There are now two openings on Drinkwitz’s assistant coaching staff for the 2022 season.
