Missouri Tigers football adds seventh home game, will open 2022 season vs Louisiana Tech
The Missouri Tigers football team will open next season at home instead of on the road.
Mizzou was scheduled to play its first game of 2022 at Middle Tennessee State, but has instead added a seventh home game. The Tigers will face Louisiana Tech on Sept. 3 at Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri.
This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
“We worked hard to ensure a seventh home game,” Mizzou athletic director Desireé Reed-Francois said. “It’s important to our football program, fans and local economy to have a full slate of games at Faurot Field.”
Louisiana Tech finished the 2021 season 3-9, including a 2-6 record in Conference USA. The Bulldogs will be in their first year under head coach Sonny Cumbie next season. Cumbie joined the program after 12 years as an assistant in the Big 12, most recently as offensive coordinator at Texas Tech.
“I’m grateful to our administration and everyone involved in bringing a seventh home game to Faurot Field next season,” Mizzou football coach Eliah Drinkwitz said. “Gameday brings a fun energy to our city and our fans. We look forward to hosting Coach Cumbie and the Bulldogs in September.”
Middle Tennessee State will still be traveling to Columbia for a game on Sept. 9.
