Mizzou Tigers forward Kobe Brown wins SEC basketball award after upset win over Alabama

Missouri Tigers forward Kobe Brown was named the SEC men’s basketball player of the week on Monday.

Brown had a huge performance for the Tigers last Saturday in a 92-86 upset win over then-No. 15 Alabama. He scored a career-high 30 points on 9 of 13 shooting and also added 13 rebounds, four assists and a block.

The 6-foot-8 junior has recorded five double-doubles this season. He is averaging 15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds for Mizzou, leading the team in both categories.

Brown’s 8.8 rebounds per game rank third in the SEC and he is 10th in scoring. Additionally, he is third in the conference in field goal percentage (52.4%).

Missouri (7-7, 1-1 SEC) travels to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for a road matchup against Arkansas (10-5, 0-3 SEC) this Wednesday. The game airs at 8 p.m. Central time on SEC Network.
