The Missouri Tigers will be without their recruiting coordinator as the early signing period for college football approaches.

Tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator Casey Woods is expected to leave Eliah Drinkwitz’s staff to become the offensive coordinator at SMU. Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel reported the news Thursday afternoon and Woods posted a goodbye to the program on Friday.

Drinwkitz replied: “Proud of you! Gods speed!”

Woods, who has been at Mizzou since the start of the 2020 season, reunites with Rhett Lashlee, the new head coach of the Mustangs, after they worked together at Auburn.

Woods has also coached at Arkansas State and Alabama-Birmingham. He was one of Drinkwitz’ primary recruiters for the Kansas City area.

The move likely explains two transfer moves from earlier this week. Tight end Daniel Parker Jr. entered the transfer portal on Sunday night and Messiah Swinson followed suit on Monday.

The early signing period starts on Dec. 15. Drinkwitz and his staff have been hitting the recruiting trail recently.
