Missouri Tigers running back Tyler Badie makes final cut for Doak Walker Award
Missouri Tigers running back Tyler Badie was named one of three finalists for the Doak Walker Award on Tuesday.
Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker III and Iowa State’s Breece Hall were the other finalists for the honor, given annually to the best running back in the country. Kansas State’s Deuce Vaughn was a semifinalist but didn’t make the final cut.
Badie, a New Orleans native, ranks fourth in the country in rushing yards (1,385), yards per game (125.9) and all-purpose yards (1,725). He is also sixth in total touchdowns (17).
He’s the only player in the nation with four 200-yard rushing games this season. Badie, a senior, is just the third SEC player to do so in a single season since 2000, joining Leonard Fournette and Derrick Henry, and is the first Mizzou player to do so.
The winner of the Doak Walker Award, which has never been won by a Mizzou player, is set to be announced live on ESPN at 6 p.m. Central time Dec. 9.
