There certainly wasn’t any love lost between the Mizzou and Florida football programs last season.

A brawl broke out between the teams at halftime of their 2020 matchup, won 41-17 by Florida, after what appeared to be a late hit on Gators quarterback Kyle Trask by MU’s Trajan Jeffcoat.

The hit occurred on the final play of the first half. Benches cleared and punches were thrown. Three players were kicked out for the remainder of the game: Mizzou’s Tre Williams and Florida’s Zach Carter and Antwuan Powell.

But the bad blood didn’t stop at the players. Tigers coach Eliah Drinkwitz and Gators coach Dan Mullen were shown on TV in each other’s faces, yelling at one another, as their teams went to the locker room at halftime.

Mullen was later fined by the SEC.

Immediately after the game, Drinkwitz had this to say: “It wasn’t exactly pleasant at halftime.”

Regardless of whether any animosity remains, Mizzou will certainly want to make up for its dismal showing last year in Columbia on Saturday.

“Last year was last year,” Drinkwitz said when asked about it all on Tuesday. “I think we’ve put that to bed. Both teams issued statements following the game. I don’t think there’s anything really to add to that.”
