Connor Bazelak out, Tyler Macon starts as Mizzou Tigers face No. 1 Georgia on road
Tyler Macon started in place of injured quarterback Connor Bazelak as the Missouri Tigers took on No. 1 Georgia on Saturday.
Macon, a true freshman, split quarterbacking duties with Brady Cook, who entered the game on the Tigers’ third series.
Through the first two drives of the contest, Macon had four carries for 36 yards, including a 20-yard rush, and had completed 2 of 4 passes for six yards. Mizzou trailed 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Bazelak was not dressed when the Tigers took the field before kickoff. He suffered a soft tissue injury in the Tigers’ last game against Vanderbilt and was listed as questionable in this week’s injury report.
The Tigers instead relied on two young quarterbacks against arguably the best defense in the country. The Bulldogs have only allowed 3.76 yards per play and 6.6 points per game, leading the FBS in both categories.
Cook has only seen action in four college games across the last two seasons while Macon has appeared in two in 2021.
