Here’s how many fans MU expects for 2020 football opener, and how students get tickets
Any Missouri Tigers season ticket-holder wanting to make his or her way to Faurot Field this fall has had the opportunity to do so, an MU spokesperson told The Star.
Mizzou unveiled its ticketing plan for season ticket-holders last month, distributing seats based on donor level. Based on supply and demand, there was a chance some fans wouldn’t be able to get all their full allotment of season tickets. That’s no longer the case.
MU expects a capacity of around 11,800 fans at Memorial Stadium when the Tigers open their season Sept. 26 against Alabama, according to the spokesperson. That means the stadium will accommodate about 18.8% of its capacity.
Originally, Mizzou planned for “up to” 25% capacity — about 15,600 fans — but said that number could shrink once season ticket-holders reserved their seats. The selection process started Aug. 28 for the highest donor levels and ended Sept. 11.
Regardless of how tickets were sent out to season ticket-holders, that plan did not affect student seating. MU unveiled this week how students will be able to attend football games this fall, with seniors given a priority in the process. Students are also invited to register for Mizzou’s open scrimmage Saturday evening.
Student capacity will be more than 1,000 people and regulated to specific locations: the Rock M Hill and east-side sections 109, 110, 313, 314 and 315. Seating will be available in socially distanced groups outlined specifically on the hill and within the stands. Group seating will be available in sets of two, four, six and eight individuals.
Student attendees will need to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing at Faurot Field. The cost will be $20 per ticket, which is non-transferable because of the group seating.
Since tickets are being sold as game-by-game seating this year, they will be available for students starting at the beginning of each game week. Those purchases will need to be made online.
Mizzou seniors will be able to purchase from an allotment of 250 tickets from 8 a.m. to noon on Mondays of game weeks. Then seniors, previous all-sports pass holders and Tiger’s Lair members will get to reserve seats from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays. All Mizzou students will then be able to purchase tickets starting Tuesday until kickoff.
The SEC announced its fan guidelines last month, stipulating all guests must wear face coverings while moving through the stadium, or anytime social distance from others not in the same household cannot be maintained.
